BE PART OF OLYMPIC HISTORY!

On January 23rd, 2010, the City of Nelson will welcome the Olympic Flame.

VANOC needs volunteers to help out at this exciting, once-in-a-lifetime event.

People are needed for the following positions:

• Stagers: setting up/taking down stages and equipment—must be able to lift 20 kg

• Setters: hospitality & location managers with warm personalities and attention to detail

• Show runners: production assistants during set up and operational during celebration

• Runners: must have a vehicle and have a strong knowledge of Nelson

• Security personnel: control signage and access to secure areas

• Media relations zone host: assists with setup of media zone, controls access, refers media question

• Media relations registration host: installs media table, welcomes media, assists with media registration

• Mascot handlers: must be able to lift 18 kg, pack/unpack costumes, guide mascots

The Nelson Hydro Outage Call Number has been changed to
1-877-324-9376 (1-877-32-HYDRO). This is a toll free number with 24 hour service for reporting power outages, electrical emergencies or obtaining power outage information.

New Website Photos

We are currently in the midst of designing a new website for the City of Nelson and would appreciate any photos that residents would be willing to submit. The shot can follow any theme (heritage, arts, outdoors, recreation, etc.) and will help to show the vibrant and unique area we live in. By submitting your photo you are agreeing to allow the City of Nelson to display your shot on the new City of Nelson website.
